My Idea for a better World

India's black money drops to Zero

Special Correspondent

Imagine if anytime you needed a passport or lodged an FIR you needed to pay no bribe. If there could be no income tax evasion. No fake currency rackets. No begging. No illegal political party fundings – which is the Gangotri of corruption.

And this could be done by just one step. Take the paper out of the money i.e. make all transactions by a biometric smart card linked to every individual’s bank account. Much like an ATM card, only it must be used in all transactions and only by your biometric credentials.

Hence, no hawala dealings. No stealing of cash. No leakages in NREGA or PDS. No cutting of trees for currency notes, or mining for minting coins. In the bigger picture, it’s a step that relinquishes the freedom to people, promised by every constitution, but denied at various levels.

  3. Technology to a certain extent is good but adopting this don't you think we as humans would be more TIGHTLY BOUND to technology.? And regarding corruption and bribing, it will still happen if the person himself does not stops. :)

    1. People are innovative and will be so, even in the way they are 'corrupt'. But the fact that some criminals are out, is no argument against the existence of prisons. Something that can go a long way in reducing black economy deserves to be implemented.

And about technology, aren't we already using ATMs very frequently already? Google is actually a verb now :)Infact, it kinda frees us from carrying cash, keeping track of it, and needless to say saves paper.

  4. nice idea...but i agree to above comment..person himself should be free from corrupted mind.then only any technological reform can benefit mankind..clean mind..clean system..clean work..no corrpution.

    1. 'Corruption free mind' - I would love that to be the case, and the day that happens - there would be no need for army, no nuclear weapons, no wars, no prisons, no courts.

But until we reach that utopian state we require all the measures legal, constitutional, or technological to prevent the corrupt, and propagate the righteous.

  5. The practical implementation of such an idea would be a tough job in India as many of the rural areas are not even exposed to the basic technologies that we are carrying right now. By the way the idea is quite intriguing. Keep it up ..:)

  6. for me, the only bottleneck to this is the existing system, which would be against this as it would curtail their benefits. That said, if we really want to achieve zero corruption, this is the way forward. Though the idea, in itself, is evasive; and zero corruption is not desirable for the nation's benefits too!!

  7. This idea seems to bring about a change.
    Nice job!!!

  8. "Gangotri of corruption" is truly incredible, its a brilliant idea to end up the root cause to quite high level in our country.......especially when no one is bothered about corruption in country. we and i myself have become so comfortable with corruption....so such brilliant ideas from youths like you can prove as a candle lighted in a endless darkness!!!

  9. Great ideas indeed!..black money to zero...although it seems very difficult..but if it can be done..i m sure the world will indeed be a better place to live in!

  10. Great thought...But, with INDIA, this will remain only a THOUGHT !!!

  11. There would have been no aeroplanes if Wright Brothers would not have imagined the same... The greatness is to have a thought like this.. Converting it to reality will be possible only when one believes in any idea.. So I think the idea of zero black money is very much achievable... Great thought..

  12. An amazing idea...and also practical. If something like this were to be made compulsory, it could really work wonders.

  13. The idea is brilliant. If it can be practically implemented, it could really help in making the world a better place to live. You know what they say, be the change you want to see in the world. If each of us can do our bit to make the world a better place, it would surely become one

  15. The suggestion seems really worth it going by the present scenario of the country. Initiatives like these and suggestions and actions by minds like those of you guys would surely be the catalyst that drives India to safety.

  16. this suggestion is worth useful....besides eradicating corruption, this would also save paper (trees).

  17. good initiative.......keep it up ......:):)

  18. I am sure the higher minds would already thought of this.Any measure to check corruption and all other money related ill practices are welcome.
I personally feel asking for a bribe is equally punishible as paying the BRIBE.We must not kneel down and instead voice against it in however way we can. There is always scope for betterment. No country is perfect,we need to grow wise everyday.Better late than never.

  19. Nice idea. Not sure to what extent this can be implemented. But nice food for thought.

  21. Good innovative thought.....If this will be happen then India will be free from corruption.
And our country will once again a great nation....but this idea needs so much technology......

  22. At the risk of sounding pessimistic, I'd just like to say that it's an extremely Utopian thought. Even if we do away with paper currency, humans will find a way around the smart card technology. If we really want to deal with corruption, what we need is a change of thought process.

PS:- The idea is genuinely innovative and thought-provoking!!

  25. Beautifully written innovative idea.Definitely plays a considerable role in reducing corruption if implemented..but difficult to implement it as of now, as not every one is aware of technology

  26. Interesting idea......We would need a technology revolution of a completely different level to make this happen....still, its a quite an intriguing thought.
